Services

The CBT Clinic of Chicago is dedicated to the practice of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) as a treatment for a variety of psychological problems, including issues like anxiety, depression, and adjustment to significant life stressors.

Dr. Massie is available to see patients for scheduled sessions between 9am-5pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Currently only adults (i.e., individuals 18 and over) are being accepted as new patients.

CBT is considered an “Evidence-based Practice” (EBP) because it has been rigorously studied and tested in large-scale clinical trials. In general, CBT has very high success rates for treating problems such as anxiety and mood disorders. Although CBT tends to be a relatively short-term treatment approach, there are cases for which therapy may require a longer duration. In order for the therapy to be most successful, you may be asked to practice certain skills or engage in specific exercises between therapy sessions.

Initial Assessment

The first 1-3 sessions will be devoted to completing a comprehensive diagnostic assessment of presenting problems and symptoms. After the initial assessment has been completed, information about your diagnosis and an initial treatment plan will be provided. If your presenting problems require treatment that can not be provided at the CBT Clinic of Chicago, appropriate referrals will be given to you.

Therapy Sessions

Most treatment plans recommend weekly sessions, which are 45 or 60 minutes in length. However, the frequency of sessions and the overall duration of treatment varies depending on the nature of the presenting problems and specific goals.

Consultation for Professionals

Consultation services to other mental health professionals who are interested in receiving training in CBT and/or treatment for anxiety and mood disorders are available.

Billing & Payment

The CBT Clinic of Chicago does not accept insurance, and as such, Dr. Massie is considered an “out-of-network” provider for most private insurance policies. Payment will be collected in full before each session. Credit card, personal check, or cash are accepted. You will be provided with a statement that reflects the necessary information to obtain reimbursement from your insurance company. Please consult with your health plan to assess how much you will be reimbursed for out-of-network benefits.
